About Us

CAMEO is an umbrella organization for the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE), the Association of Women in Computing (AWC), and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). Each year CAMEO sponsors a CareerFest, which is completely organized and run by the CAMEO committee and volunteers from the minority engineering organizations. The profits from the CareerFest are presented to active members of NSBE, SHPE, AWC, and SWE as scholarships at the annual CAMEO Banquet held in April. We also use the profits towards programming activities, community outreach, and leadership development.

The Logo

The Compass: The compass, which connects the four corners of the Earth, represents CAMEO linking AWC, NSBE, SHPE, and SWE.
The Concentric Gold Rings: Coming together focused on a common central goal of increasing the number of minority students in engineering and technological disciplines.
The Blue: The blue represents the sky for it is the limit once all minority engineering organizations are unified.

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
